Zimbabwe We Can

Zimbabwe We Can intends to be the leading human rights organization in Zimbabwe and abroad and shall continue to be a constructive organization, in which participatory democracy shall be maintained and is an organization wielded together by voluntary desire on the part of members of the organization to belong to the organization.

Object:

The object of the ZWC is to further the interests of all the people of Zimbabwean descent. The ZWC is determined to pursue a policy of unity and solidarity, equality, justice, liberty and peace, as well as political, economic and social progress and prosperity for all the people of Zimbabwean descent, tampered with a firm belief on the Christian faith and in terms of the principles of:

  • Human rights and democracy
  • Unity and solidarity
  • Equal regional development
  • Self-Reliance

The ZWC underscores the notion of unity and love of mankind that transcends race, ethnicity, color, sex, creed, gender, faith/belief, age, status, or geographical location, and that unity and collective action are the key to progress for the greater good of Zimbabwe and all persons of Zimbabwean descent.

Aim

The ZWC shall endeavor to:

  • Promote and protect justice and human rights in Zimbabwe.
  • Promote human rights awareness, individual freedoms, the right to dignity and respect, and to nurture a diverse and tolerant society.
  • Provide a platform through which civil society engages with each other and with the state institutions to debate on issues relating to human rights and justice.
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability and transparency at all levels of governance including the conduct and exercise of public office.
  • Enhance the participation of Zimbabwean citizens in planning and strengthen their voice in influencing service delivery and development of local communities in general, by promoting participatory governing through devolved form of governance.
  • Promote the welfare and interests of victims of human rights abuse in Zimbabwe and the establishment of truth and reconciliation commission.
  • Assist Zimbabweans living abroad towards durable solutions that include integration in host countries/communities, return and reintegration back home or resettlement in third countries.
  • Campaign against impunity for those who violate human rights.
  • Facilitate mobilization of resources for the administration and operational activities of the ZWC.
  • Represent the interests and opinions of the ZWC’s beneficiaries, nationally, regionally and internationally.

Zimbabwe We Can shall do all such business, within the confines of the law, pursuant of the stated aims and objectives.

Methodology

In order to achieve its aims and objects Zimbabwe We Can shall:

  • Arrange and conduct conferences, workshops, seminars, study programs, research, and educational campaign consistent with its aims and objectives and carry out such other publicity campaigns and activities aimed at promoting justice and human rights among Zimbabweans.
  • Establish a website which shall remain the asset of the ZWC, to promote on-line discussions and contributions among members.
  • Set up information centers within its constituency.
  • Issue statements on aspects relating to its aims and objectives.
  • Organize and participate in public campaigns or activities in line with its aims and objectives, publish and disseminate leaflets, flyers, newsletters, articles and books.
  • Create committees, or sub-structures or wings with an interest in, or concerned with the aims and objectives of the organization.
  • Engage in local, regional and international networking.
  • Create databases and resource centers for its activities consistent with its aims and objectives.
  • Do all things within the law that are necessary to achieve the aims and objectives of ZWC.
